The 2017 Wimbledon Championships were held from 26th June to 16th July and we were back for a 4th consecutive year providing marquee sub-structures and public access for tennis fanatics from the UK and beyond.
Being asked to return to Wimbledon year after year is something that we at Vantage wear with pride. Not only does this show that we’re up to the task, it also indicates that we have built bonds with our clients which is something we feel is extremely important.
This year, we were called in to design and construct a number of public access ramps and staircases, including back of house systems along with high end access to officials areas and players’ courtesy car services.
Using our state of the art Layher modular scaffold system, we were able to provide the perfect public access solution for all instances and once clad with 18mm plyboard and carpeted, our staircases and ramps looked like a permanent feature.
Our marquee sub-structure for the courtesy car building was constructed with scaffolding and featured a staircase at one end with a more intricate staircase bridging a walkway on the other side. A cable bridge was also constructed, allowing the pristine Jaguar cars to pass underneath unscathed. The scaffold was clad and carpeted in Wimbledon Tennis Championships livery and our job was complete.
Time on site was limited due to the amount of trades working at the same time but our dedicated team were able to overcome all obstacles and deliver our structures on time. This is testament to the skills and work ethic of our amazing team.
