The 4-day Cheltenham Festival culminating in the Gold Cup Race on the final day, is second only to the Grand National in popularity when it comes to British horse racing. With an excess of 260’000 people attending the horse racing festival each year, it’s easily one of the most prestigious jump racing events in the National Hunt calendar.
To cater for the 260’000 predicted visitors, Vantage have been asked by International Events company Arena Group, to build two triple deck marquee substructures of 20 x 135 meters and 15 x 50 meters replete with viewing balconies and to provide seating and space for a full restaurant service below. Each marquee will consist of in-built kitchens and service areas, making each, in effect a temporary restaurant. In addition, we have been asked to build a 15 x 85 meter Guinness Bar in the main marquee, with a fully functioning cellar in the scaffold grid, keeping it neat and tidy – no spillages please!
This isn’t our first collaboration with Arena, as in 2019 we were asked to build substructures for the Solheim Women’s Golf Tournament at Gleneagles and again for the Women’s British Golf Open at Woburn. For Cheltenham, once again, we will be using the advanced Layher system scaffolding, giving each structure a precision look.
The Cheltenham Festival runs from the 10th to the 13th of March and is held at Cheltenham Racecourse.
